5 Foods I Won't Eat Again Until Spring

I’ve always been a fan of seasonal eating… but getting certified in Applied Quantum Biology has made me committed to getting back to a more seasonal way of eating. This is because…
Foods contain light codes from the sunlight. ☀️
This means the food you eat acts as a signal (or instruction manual) for your body… telling your body what time of day/year it is and what the body should be doing at that time.
Eating foods out of season (or foods that aren’t grown in your local area) can be confusing to the body.
And can mess with energy levels, gut microbiome, hormones, weight + inflammation levels. 😬
=========
Now, if you live somewhere close to the equator - where the UVB is high all year round - you can eat fruits, smoothies, juices, and salads all year long because your gut is prepped by the sun to consume these foods.
But if you live in the Northeast - like I do - you’ll want to switch up what you eat as we transition into late fall/winter.
This is because your gut microbiome changes in response to the decrease in UVB light that comes in late fall/winter.
If you live in Boston and you’re eating bananas grown in Costa Rica in late November, that’s a serious light mismatch.
My goal is to focus on eating foods I could find at a farmer’s market right now or foods that I could be storing in my cellar (like onions, carrots, delicata squash, etc.)… and foods that could be hunted/harvested right now (fish, meat, etc.)
5 Foods I Won't Eat Again Until Spring:
Fruit smoothies
Bananas
Smoothies
Tomatoes
Coconut Water
There are actually more summer foods I'll probably say good-bye to for a while: watermelon, cucumbers, radishes, peppers, raspberries, etc. But I'm just starting with these 5 for now.
Which ones would you give up until spring?
