A Recap of My 2025 Winter Solstice Celebrations

How did your Winter Solstice go? Mine turned into a very full and lovely 2-day celebration with teens and dear friends! Here are some highlights for you 🩵
On the actual Solstice, I got up early and made my Solstice altars. Here’s a picture of the beginning stages of one of them. I totally forgot to get pictures once it was done... and totally forgot to take pictures of the other one. I got too swept up in the day!
I watched sunrise from the top of the hill behind our house… then went down to our yard to watch it rise a second time :).
I filled the diffuser with Believe and Citrus Fresh oils and did a little Solstice meditation on the biomat enjoying the Christmas tree lights.
I set a pot of Solstice Brew simmering on the stove (the recipe is in my free Winter Solstice Guide).
Then I made breakfast for the family and ate outside under sunrise magic...
The rest of the morning and early afternoon was spent cooking and prepping for the main event :)
We had dear family friends over that afternoon. Friends we used to do homeschooling life with, but we haven’t been together in many years. There were 6 teens, 3 adults… and we had so much fun reconnecting as a group.
We made Solstice lanterns with tissue paper and stickers... and pretty beeswax Solstice candles from a kit my friend brought. I have loads of fun crafts and activities in my FREE Winter Solstice Guide.
We took a sunset Solstice walk around the neighborhood... then the guys came back in and watched football while the girls chatted :)
SOLSTICE DAY 2
The next day... I had 2 other dear friends over. We had lots of plans, but we were all tired and a bit “off” so we ended up:
Sitting on the couch
Munching on yummy food
Pulling cards and doing mini readings for each other
Chatting about things on our hearts
I got no pictures because we were so in the present moment!
That night, I took a lovely Solstice bath! Bath recipes are in my free Winter Solstice Guide.
THE FOOD:
On the Solstice, I like to make foods the color of the sun (orange, yellow) and foods the color of the darkness (purple, black). Food ideas are in my free Winter Solstice Guide.
The food I served over both days included:
Dark chocolate bark with candied ginger, pecan and cranberries
Thieves Popcorn
Berry and mango kombucha
Solstice egg muffins with mushrooms, red onions and bacon
Curried turmeric rice with black beans
Solstice salad with clementines and beets
Deviled eggs with pickled onions and chives
Solstice nachos (blue chips, cheddar cheese and cilantro)
Cheddar cheese
Kalamata olives
Lessons learned from 2025 Solstice:
2 days of Solstice fun was FUN… but a lot of work. Next year, I’ll condense it down to one day… I’d like to have more time to be solo and introspective, which just didn’t happen this year because of all the social fun.
My Closing Invitation For You:
Did you miss the Solstice? No worries...
The good news? All of the 27 adventures don't need to happen on the Solstice. You could take 1 or 2 rituals each week and create a magical Winter Season for yourself and your family!
